MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN — Jeff Hargarten, President of NORAM, recently announced the introduction of the Pressurized Air Control (PAC) Linear Actuator, a revolutionary system to enable immediate compliance with ‘no cut in reverse’ government mandates. “This is a lawn and garden equipment industry first,” Hargarten stated in an interview. “There have previously been no creative solutions to resolve this dilemma.”

“We will be showcasing the innovative PAC Actuator system at the 20th Anniversary International Lawn, Garden & Power Equipment Exposition (Expo 2003) to be held in Louisville, Kentucky, October 18 through October 20, 2003,” Hargarten related. “For the lawn and garden equipment industry,” he continued, “the PAC Linear Actuator system is a superior alternative to the rough engagement of existing electric clutches. It also eliminates shock loads common with those devices, and is capable of engaging a mower deck at idle speed.”

Among the multiple benefits of the PAC Actuator is its dramatically reduced electrical load on the engine. It requires significantly less power than a typical electric clutch, drawing less than 1/2 amp. “In addition,” Hargarten noted, “we designed it for fail safe operation. When the 12 volt power supply is shut off or depleted, the PAC Actuator system defaults to the ‘Off’ position. And, its single button engagement requires no special engine modifications, avoiding costly upgrades. It is also easy to use, troubleshoot and maintain.”

Coupling superior performance with convenience, the PAC Actuator is a stand-alone configuration that can be utilized in multiple applications. The durable design resists vibrations and temperature variations to provide years of reliable and cost-effective use.

Hargarten explained, “When coupled with NORAM’s patented clutch brake, the PAC Actuator achieves the ultimate power transfer system. When used alone, it is the least expensive push button activation in the industry. One of the most exciting aspects of this design is that the PAC Actuator can pull an impressive 100 lbs. with a 2 inch stroke in just 2 seconds,” he concluded.
